DYSFUNCTIONAL LENS SYNDROME (DLS)

This is a progressive loss of function of the lens inside the eye.  It is an age-related condition that usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 60.

While a patient with dysfunctional lens syndrome is not a suitable candidate for LASIK or PRK, Art of Sight does offer the alternative of a refractive lens exchange.

To correct this eye problem, your surgeon can perform a refractive lens exchange (RLE) which is a surgical procedure where an artificial intraocular lens is implanted to replace the clear natural lens inside the front part of the eye. An RLE takes about 10 to 15 minutes per eye, and you can choose to do both eyes on the same day or come back a week later to address the second eye. Most patients vision improves immediately, with the best results noted about four to six weeks later. Another advantage of the refractive lens exchange is that you can never develop cataracts after this procedure.

We will determine, based on your examination, a customized solution to improve your vision.  All you have to do is come in for a free consultation.
