REFRACTIVE LENS EXCHANGE (RLE)

RLE is a surgical procedure where an artificial intraocular lens is implanted to replace the clear natural lens inside the front part of the eye.  

An RLE takes about 10 to 15 minutes per eye, and you can choose to do both eyes on the same day or come back 1-2 weeks later to address the second eye. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in vision, with the best results noted about four to six weeks later. Another advantage of the refractive lens exchange is that you can never develop cataracts after this procedure.
